About Me

As a Marriage and Family Therapist in training, I started out at  Windows of Hope Counseling Center when they first opened their Roseville office in April of 2008. In December of 2008, I happily moved back to my homeland in Sonoma County to be near my family while offering affordable counseling to the community under Windows of Hope. We had locations in both Santa Rosa and Sebastopol, and I was the only Windows of Hope counselor in this area. As of October 1st, 20011, I am happily working in a private practice internship under Linda Collett, a wonderful Marriage and Family Therapist here in Santa Rosa.

My emphasis and experience is in both couples counseling and individual counseling with adults and teens. These are some of the areas in which I have counseled clients: Pre-marital counseling; acculturation issues; relationship problems (communication issues; rigid conflict patterns; verbal/emotional/physical abuse; affairs); family of origin issues and/or previous relationship issues affecting current relationships; step-parenting /blended family issues; co-parenting; parenting teenagers; childhood sexual abuse; depression and depression fallout; trauma recovery; PTSD; domestic violence; self-esteem issues; substance abuse; anxiety.
            I am a
Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (#61172), registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences, working under the supervision of Linda Collett, licensed MFT #45886. I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. I have a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University College in Roseville, California. I have a BS in Sociology and a minor in psychology from Black Hills State University in Rapid City, South Dakota. I am also a pre-licensed member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

I have a very holistic approach to psychotherapy. My style of counseling is based in both Humanistic and Psychodynamic theory, with emphasis in mindfulness and emotionally focused therapy. I use techniques that help my clients to work through stuck emotions and difficult times. But I also teach techniques that my clients can use in order to practice continuous self growth and healing on their own. Many of my techniques with adults and adolescents are inspired by humanistic, emotionally focused, and experiential methods I have learned from workshops with experts in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy such as John Amodeo, Eugene Gendlin, Earnest Rossi, Susan Johnson, James Finley, Jean Houston, John Gottman, and James Hillman. I have most recently added to my toolbox, techniques of Energy Psychology, which are very helpful for clearing blocks to growth. I am currently in the process of becoming a certified Energy Psychology Practitioner through ACEP (The Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology). One of my strengths is in my ebility to help my clients to move beyond the patterns of being stuck in or triggered by past emotional wounds and learning valuable emotional and relational skills. I use and teach many techniques of Eastern Psychology inspired by Pema Chodron. I also use techniques inspired by Harville Hendrix, author of "Getting the Love You Want."  I find that it often helps to have many tools in ones toolbox, so I will often encourage my clients to buy a book or mindfulness CD. with tangible affirmations and exercises to reflect on and practice that can help us shift into deeper reflection and engage more readily in the process of transformation that is at the heart of our emotional and spiritual healing and growth.

My focus as a counselor is to help you: identify goals; heal/resolve/accept past wounds; align with your own innate strengths and abilities; and acquire new insights and skills to take home with you. It is my deeply felt honor to help guide you on your journey of healing and growth.

Namaste.
